A Perfect Addition for Public Event Spaces: The S 180 Row Seating Series
Design: Delphin Design, 2012
With the new S 180 row seating design, the Berlin-based studio Delphin Design has developed an addition to the S 160 / S 170 product family for seating in public event spaces. The S 180 series is characterised by a sled base that lends the chair a dynamic and distinctive look. The S 180 can be perfectly combined with S 160 and S 170 series since all three designs share the same seat shell. Due to their durability, their exceptional comfort and a well-considered set of accessories, the whole product family is ideally suited for use in public and commercial event spaces. The products' simple, classic design allows a functional and aesthetically pleasing structuring of space.
Optimal Use of Space
The low weight of the S 160, S 170 and S 180 chairs - ranging from 6.5 to 9.5 kg depending on the design - guarantees time-efficient and safe assembly in large halls, lecture theatres and churches. The chairs' slim shape allows closely arranged rows, resulting in an optimal use of space. They can be stacked vertically, thus needing less storage space. Stacking, moving and storing are facilitated by the products' low weight and easy handling.
Designs, Materials and Application Areas
The S 160, S 170 and S 180 series are available in various designs: with or without armrests and with or without upholstery. Since the seat cushions are set into the frame, the upholstered version also has a low stacking height. The S 180 sled frame is made of chromed steel tubing and the seat shell is made of plastic. The series also includes two designs with a moulded wood seat: one with a low backrest (S 182) and one with a high backrest (S 184). Both the wooden and the plastic designs are available with upholstered seats and backrests, which not only provides additional comfort but also contributes to excellent acoustics.
Delphin Design Delphin Design was founded by Thomas Wagner and Dirk Loff in 1994. The studio has worked in the areas of product development and interior design for clients from various industries including, besides the furniture sector, mechanical engineering, bathroom and sanitary fittings and household and electrical products. Clients include Trendglas, Spreadshirt and the Sächsische Landesapothekenkammer.
